Finally Make a Difference

Who We Are Looking For

First and Foremost: You

Working at Afinum is exciting because you get to interact with so many different people. This diversity brings valuable experiences and enriches the team with a variety of perspectives. We are aware that our industry has not traditionally been the most diverse. That’s why it is especially important to us to build a team as diverse as possible.

Analysts & Associates

The personal factor is key to our success, and our philosophy is to grow from within and sustainably develop alongside every team member. We only bring new team members on board at the Analyst and Associate levels, with the goal of fostering their long-term development within our firm. For every potential new hire, we ask ourselves: Can we envision supporting them on their journey to becoming a partner? With Burkhard and Kai, we have great examples that prove it works.

Basic requirements

As a small team, we cannot provide training from the ground up. If you want to join us, you should have at least one year of foundational experience at a leading strategy consultancy, in investment banking, or with a reputable M&A boutique, as well as strong academic grades. You should be comfortable operating in a medium-sized business environment, which for us includes: strong social and communication skills, a grounded attitude, natural confidence, and a high level of results orientation.

Our Introduction Process

Finding and inspiring the right members for our team is incredibly important to us. Over the years, we’ve built a very stable team with low turnover. To keep it that way, we want to get to know you as thoroughly as possible through a multi-stage process while giving you broad insights into the Afinum team and the scope of our work. Our mutual introduction process includes the following steps:

01

Your Documents, Our Feedback

In addition to your CV outlining your key professional and academic milestones (including grades, if possible), we’d like to understand the reasons behind your application and your interest in Afinum.

02

1+3 Interview Rounds

After an initial interview with our Human Capital Manager Marit, focused on your motivation and questions (via MS Teams), you will have three follow-up interviews (also via MS Teams) with professionals from our team. These sessions will be a mix of getting to know each other personally and addressing some initial technical questions. Of course, you’ll also have the opportunity to ask your own questions.

03

Case Study

If both you and we feel that there is a potential fit, we will invite you to our Munich office for a case study. You will receive materials from a “real case” and present the key aspects of the business model, as well as an LBO model based on the due diligence documents, to a group of 4 to 5 professionals.

04

Getting to Know the Team

Team fit is an important factor for us, and surely for you as well, when making a decision. Therefore, after the case study, you will have the opportunity to meet additional team members whom you haven’t interacted with yet.

05

Your References

Depending on your prior experience, we will ask you to provide 2 to 3 references that we can contact shortly.

06

Our Contract Offer

Once we have gone through these stages together, we should know each other well enough to make an informed decision, and we will only need to discuss the details of the contract with you.
