I agreeAs part of the ongoing implementation of management succession at Afinum Management GmbH, one of the co-founders, transitions to the Supervisory Board.
In the year 2000, Dr. Thomas Bühler and Dr. Gernot Eisinger co-founded Afinum Management GmbH. Since then, Afinum has launched 7 fund generations with €1.8 billion of equity and acquired over 100 companies. The focus has consistently been on managing entrepreneurial successions of the portfolio companies. Now, after 24 years, Afinum’s management is being handed over to the next generation of partners to drive future success, endurance and growth. Therefore, Dr. Philipp Schülin, Kai Roolf and Burkhard von Wangenheim have already been appointed as Managing Partners along with Anton Bergmann as CFO and Managing Director.
Dr. Thomas Bühler: “We have built Afinum with passion and a high level of emotional commitment. After so many years of solving succession issues I am particularly proud that we have managed to build an excellent team and a convincing group of partners who will successfully continue to develop Afinum in the future.”
Prior to Afinum, Dr. Thomas Bühler had already been active in private equity since 1989 and has now more than 35 years of experience in the field of entrepreneurial succession planning. With this extensive experience, he will remain closely involved in the development of Afinum as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Afinum Management GmbH and as a member of the Investment Committees of the various Afinum funds.
Dr. Thomas Bühler: “I am very grateful that Dr. Gernot Eisinger and I were able to build and lead Afinum with such trust and harmony along the way. We wish the same for our successors. My special thanks goes not only to the Afinum team, but also to the many investors who have trusted and supported us for many years, in some cases since the year 2000.”
The second founder, Dr. Gernot Eisinger, will remain on the management board of Afinum until the end of 2024 to actively support the transition to the next generation of partners. Afterwards he will also move to the company’s Supervisory Board.
