I agreeTotal realized proceeds of Afinum 8 now exceed 5x MoIC on four highly successful exits to date
Afinum Achte Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. geschlossene Investment KG (“Afinum 8”) entered into an agreement to sell FAST LTA GmbH („FAST LTA“) to funds advised by Summa Equity Advisory GmbH („Summa“). FAST LTA is a leading provider of cutting edge high-security archiving, storage, and recovery of business critical and sensitive personal data.
The Munich-based company was founded in 2006 by an experienced team of serial entrepreneurs and has since delivered highly profitable growth. Its cutting-edge solutions are used in a wide range of industries most notably healthcare, medical-technology, and the public sector. FAST LTA’s products and solutions are instrumental for customers who require multiple layers of data security. The solutions’ use-cases span across on-premise, private- as well as hybrid cloud environments and ensure protection against e.g., ransomware and other cybersecurity challenges. FAST LTA is well positioned to capitalize on increasing data volumes, high data protection, retention requirements and rising cyber security awareness. The management team will stay on board and reinvest alongside Summa.
Under Afinum’s ownership FAST LTA more than tripled EBITDA and cemented its market leading position, while at the same time diversifying its product portfolio, customer base, and international footprint. The company diversified vertically on the back of strong references from its core segments healthcare and public sector, where requirements for data security are most demanding. International expansion was successfully initiated by ramping up a structured sales approach in the Netherlands, winning first customers in the region. To enable scalable growth, internal processes have been optimized and further digitized. This included a more data-driven decision-making process as well as an upgrade of online marketing and social media activities.
The transaction is the fourth exit of Afinum 8 and yields a strong Multiple on Invested Capital (MoIC). Following completion, the transaction lifts realized returns of Afinum 8 to above 5x MoIC.
