LEDLENSER Group has acquired all shares in Ledco Ltd, Sunninghill, Berkshire (UK), as part of a succession plan. Ledco was founded in 2004 and exclusively distributes LEDLENSER products in Great Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland. The former owner Jon Kemp will remain with the company for a transition period to ensure a smooth handover. In the COVID-19 year, Ledco’s business, like LEDLENSER’s business model, again proved to be extremely robust and performed very well.

With the acquisition of Ledco, LEDLENSER is consistently pursuing optimisation of its value-enhancing distribution strategy. Following the successful establishment of its own sales subsidiaries in North America and Denmark, the acquisition of Ledco marks the beginning of direct sales in Great Britain. In the upcoming years, distribution in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland will be systematically expanded in order to strengthen the company’s presence in these important markets and to continuously increase contribution to group revenues and earnings.

After the group was already able to increase its output at a high single-digit growth rate in the crisis year 2020, LEDLENSER started the new year 2021 with significant double-digit revenue growth compared to the same period of the previous year. LEDLENSER’s successful development can be attributed to the consistent implementation of strategic initiatives since the Afinum investment. Especially product innovation initiatives have been of importance. In 2020, more new products were introduced than ever before in the company’s history. The e-commerce share is also continuously increasing due to investments in technology, online-marketing and the team. Purchasing and production optimisation initiatives at the company’s own plant in China already contribute significantly to earnings and ensure product availability and delivery capability in these challenging times.

LEDLENSER Group is a platform investment of AFINUM Achte Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG and was acquired from the US-based Leatherman Tool Group in a carve-out at the end of 2018. LEDLENSER is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality LED flashlights and headlamps, especially for demanding professional users and outdoor enthusiasts. The company, headquartered in Solingen, Germany, was founded in 1993 and is considered the inventor of the LED flashlight.
